ASBO International’s Financial Programs promote excellence, transparency, and accountability in school district financial management. The Meritorious Budget Award (MBA) program recognizes school district budgets that serve as effective communication tools for stakeholders while meeting high standards for accuracy, clarity, and fiscal responsibility. Budgets are evaluated against established criteria that reflect best practices in public‑sector financial management.
The Certificate of Excellence in Financial Reporting (COE) program acknowledges districts whose Annual Comprehensive Financial Reports (ACFRs) achieve the highest standards in content, presentation, and transparency. COE recipients demonstrate a strong commitment to clear, comprehensive financial reporting and public accountability.Together, these programs support districts at every stage of financial planning and reporting, while reinforcing ASBO International’s mission to advance excellence in school business leadership.
