ASBO International is pleased to announce a new online application portal for its Meritorious Budget Award (MBA) programs.

- Login in using your ASBO International Username and Password. Click Here to Apply!
- Choose your application type:
- First-time district applicants can choose the Pathway to MBA or MBA application. The Pathway to MBA is an introductory to the MBA program and allows school districts to ease into full MBA compliance. New districts are only eligible to apply for two years and must complete only two of the four MBA Criteria Checklist sections.
- Returning districts or new districts may apply for the MBA and are required to complete all MBA Criteria Checklist sections.
- Extension applications are also available if a district is unable to submit their application within the submission timeframe.
- Fill in the application form, upload your documents, pay now, or select payment via check. The MBA Criteria Checklist can be downloaded from ASBO’s website, completed, and uploaded directly into the portal.

Note: Any school system in the U.S. and Canada, charter school, educational service unit, college, or university that incorporates the MBA criteria into its budget development process is eligible to apply. New applicants may apply to the award's introductory program, Pathway to the MBA, for the first two years.
ASBO International no longer accepts email or hard copy submissions of MBA documents, i.e. books, CDs, flash drives, or paper.

COMPLETE ONLY 2 OF THE 4 MERITORIOUS BUDGET AWARD CRITERIA CHECKLIST SECTIONS
✓ Cover letter specifying any MBA criteria that do not apply to your school district.
✓ Complete the Executive Summary and one other section of the MBA Criteria Checklist (Second year Pathway applicants must complete the Executive Summary and a section not completed the first year).
✓ Reviewer comments from the previous year (if applicable).
✓ Your school district’s responses to prior year’s comments (if applicable).
✓ Budget document or a link to your budget document.
Districts may apply for the Pathway to the MBA for 2 years.

Deadline and Extensions
MBA and Pathway to the MBA applications are due within 90 days (3 months) of a district’s budget’s legal approval.
The application process is open from June 3, 2024, to December 1, 2024. Extensions are granted through March 31, 2025. After this period, the submission process is closed, and applicants must apply when the next award period commences.
Need an extension?
If your district is unable to meet the submission deadline of December 1, 2024, an extension may be filed using the online platform and selecting extension request on the application form.
Fees
Application fees are based on your district’s total revenue.
