Flu Season School Guidance on Flexibility and Waivers
The Department of Education posted new H1N1 flu guidance regarding flexibility and waivers for States, local districts, postsecondary institutions, and other ED grantee and program participants. The guidance can be found on the Department of Education's H1N1 Webpage.

Federal Government Issues School Guidance on Coping with Swine Flu Outbreak
August 7, 2009: The U.S. government has issued new guidelines for school closings when swine flu strikes in hopes of preventing the panic and confusion that prompted hundreds of school closures last spring. Changes to the guidance include a recommendation on when students who have had the flu should return to school.

Visit www.flu.gov for a toolkit for schools. As the situation changes and new recommendations come out, this site will be continually updated.

Schools are asked to report dismissals due to swine flu to the CDC.
