Flu Season School Guidance on Flexibility and
Waivers
The Department of Education posted new H1N1 flu guidance regarding
flexibility and waivers for States, local districts, postsecondary
institutions, and other ED grantee and program participants. The

Federal Government Issues School Guidance on Coping with Swine
Flu Outbreak
August 7, 2009: The U.S. government has issued new guidelines for school closings when swine flu
strikes in hopes of preventing the panic and confusion that
prompted hundreds of school closures last spring. Changes to the
guidance include a recommendation on when students who have had the flu
should return to school.

Schools are asked to report dismissals due to swine flu to the CDC.
