Character, Courage, Commitment … ASBO International Corporate Leaders Award

The Corporate Leaders Award (CLA) is the highest honor ASBO International bestows on industry partners.

The award recognizes Corporate members who have demonstrated exemplary support of ASBO and who have made outstanding contributions to advancing the profession of school business management.

Congratulations to Donald Friesz with Virco

Congratulations to Don Friesz, who not only was honored with the first Corporate Leader Award, but who also attended his 50th consecutive ASBO Annual Meeting! ASBO presented him with the award during the conference's second general session on Sunday, October 14, 2007.

While accepting the award, Friesz encouraged members to come every year to ASBO’s Annual Meeting. “Make it part of your annual schedule,” he said. “If you do, I can just assure you, too, will benefit professionally as I have.”

Don began working for Virco on February 15, 1957 — the same year that he attended his first ASBO International Annual Meeting in New Orleans. Don held the position of vice president of sales and marketing for Virco from 1982 until he retired in 1996 and has also been active on Virco’s board of directors since 1992.

Don has been a strong supporter of ASBO International for 50 years, and his commitment to ASBO and the school business profession did not end when he retired. Don continues to attend every ASBO International Annual Meeting.
