NCSL Report Energy Efficient Schools: Policies and Opportunities Shows How U.S. States Can Help Schools Save $1.5 Billion on Energy

A new report released by the National Conference of State Legislatures (NCSL) shows that many schools pay more than necessary for energy because they use older, less-efficient technologies. The report, Energy Efficient Schools: Policies and Opportunities, attributes this problem to many factors, including the high up-front costs of purchasing more expensive energy-saving equipment.
The report, based on interviews with energy experts and a July 2002 survey of over 5,000 ASBO International members, also outlines ways public schools can save money on power, and how states can help.
