with strategies for maintaining facilities, as well as opportunities to
reduce energy costs by up to 20% and increase energy efficiency at
existing schools.
The free guidebook, School Operations and Maintenance: Best Practices For Controlling Energy Costs, provides technical and organization information on barriers, challenges, and the necessary steps to develop an energy management program within a school district structure.
Published in August 2004, the guidebook was prepared for the U.S. Department of Energy, the Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy, the Weatherization and Intergovenmental Program, and the Rebuild America EnergySmart Schools Program.
