INTERNATIONAL EAGLE AWARD RECIPIENT

Alan P. King
Chief Financial Officer
Lewisville Independent School District
Lewisville, Texas
kinga@lisd.net

In serving approximately 50,000 students spread throughout 13 separate communities and cities, Alan's skillful efforts enable Lewisville to operate on a balanced budget of $423 million. Even with state funding shortfalls, he has managed to increase the district's fund balance without raising tax rates. Through cost saving measures, $49 million was re-directed to instructional areas. Under his guidance, the district continues to earn the state's highest fiscal accounting rating. In addition, the district has been honored with numerous awards for its financial integrity, budgeting, and procurement practices.

DISTINGUISHED PROFESSIONAL AWARD RECIPIENT

Kathy Huffman Isenhour
Associate Superintendent of Business & Finance
Hickory Public Schools
Hickory, North Carolina

Kathy has been described as the glue that holds together a dedicated school finance team. Early in her career, she computerized the district's manual accounting system. This not only saved time and money, but created up-to-date financial reporting and controls. During the worst of economic downturns and cuts in state and local governments, her strong fiscal and internal controls increased school system fund balances from less than $150,000 to more than $1 million today. All this was accomplished without sacrificing quality.

DISTINGUISHED PROFESSIONAL AWARD RECIPIENT

Greg Murry, Ed.D.
Superintendent
Conway Public Schools
Conway, Arkansas
murryg@conway.afsc.k12.ar.us

When ranking outstanding school administrators in the state of Arkansas, Greg's name is at the top of the list. At the district level, he helped pass referendums of over $100 million for construction of new school facilities. At the state level, his relentless hands-on work with the General Assembly produced breakthrough legislation that provides more funding for Arkansas' public schools. His work with the legislature has also produced a uniform accounting system, policies, and training programs for school business officials and educators.

DISTINGUISHED PROFESSIONAL AWARD RECIPIENT

Mary A. Lagnado
Assistant Superintendent for Business Management Services
Westbury Union Free School District
Old Westbury, New York
mlagnado@westburyschools.org

With more than 20 years of experience, Mary knows how to control finances in a district with a budget of $77 million. However, when she first arrived, the district budget was in disarray. Through skillful planning and community outreach, she restored financial accountability and a balanced budget. Her efforts have more than paid off. Through bond offerings and grants, the district has secured funds to make millions of dollars of capital improvements and upgrades to its curriculum.
